Thank you to Lynn (Ara), Murray (Bethel), Julie (Caleb), Sarah (Gracen), Joy (Leah), Amanda (Maja), and Genia (Ryan) for helping us get to and from this month's trip to Old Town! Time to go back in time to the early 1800's when San Diego was so far from how we know it to be today...
Here we meet our Tour Guide
After hearing a little bit of history about what kind of people lived in San Diego, the common languages and the way they dressed, it was time to become transformed.
Here are Yankee Women who wore shawls around their shoulders when they went into town, or made in into an apron while cooking or cleaning.
These are Californio Women--- Mexican women living in the state of Calinfornia--- wearing a mantil on their heads, often worn in church.
These are Vaqueros--- Mexican cowboys.
These are Yankee Cowboys.
We started walking through Old Town to see what life was like in the past...
Transportation
These horse drawn carriages were like our modern day taxis, mail trucks, etc. People piled in and even sat on the roof!
